Adventure Medicine is pleased to announce their role as Medical Advisors to Adventure Medic, one of Australia's leading wilderness first aid course providers.

 

 

Adventure Medic is a Queensland based First Aid Training Company that runs Remote First Aid Training courses throughout and Australia and abroad.  We are a nationally registered training organisation delivering 4 First Aid Courses for people working in Remote Environments (outdoor leaders, tour guides, adventure/multi sport racers, mining employees, oil rig employees, aid workers and any other individuals who travel/work in remote areas.  With our experienced educators and facilitators, who share both a passion for teaching and outdoor medicine, our aim is to up skill the outdoor community to effectively manage first aid situations in remote locations

We offer the following four courses:

 

CPR

CPR is a 4 hour training session aimed at equipping you with the knowledge and skills to keep a patient alive until Medical Assistance arrives.  It will cover the DRABC model, management of an unconscious patient, CPR and management of a Foreign Body Airway Obstruction plus the use of Automatic External Defibrillators (AED’s). This course also covers all the current CPR guidelines for both Wilderness and Urban environments.  Successful completion of the course will allows the participants to gain their CPR qualification which will be valid for 12 months and gain a statement of attainment in the nationally recognised qualification HLTCPR 201A—Perform CPR

 

Adventure First Aid

Adventure First Aid is a remote first aid course (approximately 16 hours of instruction) providing entry level first aid skills and knowledge. Throughout this course you will learn what is required to survive an emergency situation in a remote environment, should one arise. Over the 2 days our experienced trainers will guide you through a practical workshop to develop your first aid knowledge and skill base, covering basic first aid responding, basic life support and management of a casualty until help arrives; including treatment of specific injuries. This course is trained and assessed at a nationally recognised standard and you will gain a statement of attainment in HLTFA 301A—Apply First Aid, HLTFA 302B—Provide First Aid in a remote Situation and HLTCPR 201 A—Perform CPR which equates to the Senior / Apply First Aid with the Remote Competencies.

 

 

Remote and occupational First Aid

Remote and occupational First Aid is an Advanced level remote first aid course (approximately 40 hours) that focuses on developing your skills and knowledge in advanced first aid responses, management of first aid in your workplace, advanced resuscitation and management of a casualty until help arrives. The injuries and illnesses focussed on in this course are the ones that you would more commonly encounter when living, working or playing in a remote area. The course is practically based with field/area experts facilitating group work, scenarios and projects to enhance knowledge and learning. On successful completion of the course, students will gain a statement of attainment in the following competencies - HLTFA301B Apply First Aid HLTFA201A Provide Basic Emergency Life Support HLTFA302A Provide First Aid in a Remote Setting HLTCPR201A Perform CPR HLTFA402B Apply Advanced First Aid HLTFA404A Apply Advanced Resuscitation Techniques HLTFA403A Manage First Aid in the Workplace HLTOHS300A Contribute to the OHS Process HLTIN301A Comply with Infection Control Policies and Procedures in Health Work. The 5 day course gives you qualifications in Remote First Aid, Advanced Resuscitation and Occupational First Aid.

 

Wilderness Response for Health Professionals

Wilderness Response for Health Professionals is a 2 day practical workshop, facilitated using a series of individual, small team and group scenarios. Over the 2 days you will gain skill and proficiency in using the Adventure Medic Patient Assessment System to respond to remote emergencies. You will also gain an intimate understanding of the most up to date guidelines from the Wilderness Medical Society. Through this course there is also the opportunity to recertify or gain your nationally recognised ‘senior / apply First aid and remote area first aid certificate’ along with experience applying this knowledge to wilderness and remote area incidents
