Physicial Fitness

Trekking in Papua New Guinea is physically demanding. The tracks are narrow, uneven and muddy with numerous steep inclines and declines.

Training is essential. Any training programme should consist of aerobic exercise, strength building and hiking up and down hills with a backpack.

 

Some trekking companies provide training programmes designed to prepare you for your trek.  If you are unsure, a qualified personal trainer will be able to assist you in your preparation.
